Columbus State University alumni and students now have their own networking website.
The online tool, CampusTap, enables alumni and students to connect through a secure forum.
“It’s a great resource for alumni who are interested in mentoring current students,” Katie Evans, CSU’s alumni engagement coordinator, said in the university’s news release. “Alumni who are interested in mentoring can sign up, take a personality test and are matched with a current student.”
CampusTap also allows users to seek career advice, learn about events and connect with employers or people in similar careers.
According to its Facebook page, Boston-based CampusTap, founded in 2012, “provides private career networking and alumni mentoring communities to help students and recent graduates launch successful careers. With CampusTap, colleges and universities can recruit alumni in meaningful mentor opportunities, easily match them with students and alumni with similar professional interests, and track engagement.”
CSU decided to join CampusTap after the university’s Leadership Institute in 2016 surveyed 17 local organizations to gain insight into employers’ perspectives about CSU graduates, the news release says.
“The results revealed a need for ‘soft skills’ with recommendations to expand opportunities that expose students to the real world,” the news release says. “CampusTap seeks to do so by matching students with mentors in their field.”
